The Fuel Research, Hydraulic Fluids and Environmental Protection Centre was established based on experience and equipment of the Department Fuel and Working Liquids Laboratory. As a result of fulfilment of the project co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the Regional Operational Programme of the West-Pomeranian Province for 2007-2013 it has been refitted with a unique, state-of-the-art specialist research apparatus and equipment necessary to conduct innovative research and provide services. The Fuel Research, Hydraulic Fluids and Environmental Protection Centre is the newest research centre in Poland of this type.
The Laboratory allows the Szczecin Maritime Academy to use its scientific and research potential for performance of complex study in respect of:
- Hydraulic oils in any use – full scope of study (physical and chemical properties, quality, purity, usability for further operation);
- Lubricating oils – full scope of usage study (physical and chemical properties, including lubricity, quality, purity, usability for further operation, variation monitoring);
- Transformer oils (physical and chemical properties, quality, purity, usability for further operation);
- Fuels for automatic-ignition engines:
- Traction (analysis of quality, composition, morphology, pollution, dusting quality, physical and chemical properties, operation advisory);
- Study for natural environment protection;
- Water pollution with petroleum-derivative substances;
- Analysis of exhaust gases in industrial power facilities – full scope.
With the operation of the Centre the Academy is the home leader in respect of study for improvement of efficiency of operation of engines and hydraulic systems of machines and for reduction of the negative impact of fumes and petroleum-derivative waste on environment, based on analysis of fuel and working liquids used by businesses.
The Laboratory offers complex studies determining the existing condition of individual elements, forecasted variation trend and indicating the method of use of individual working liquids thus reducing the operation costs.
